5 Million Young Futures is a global initiative comprising the investment of financial resources as well as the professional time and expertise of Barclays staff in community programmes that enhance the enterprise, employability and financial skills of young people aged 10 to 35. The opportunity to acquire these vital skills will help young people to deal with the challenges they face in providing for themselves and for their families, and ultimately support longer-term growth in the economy.
Now in its second year, volunteers from Barclays Dublin office commit to a 6 month employability programme designed and coordinated in partnership with Junior Achievement Ireland. The highly interactive programme engages senior cycle students from Presentation Secondary Warrenmount, Dublin 8, Mount Carmel Secondary School, Dublin 1 and Rosary College, Crumlin, Dublin 12.
Since first term,15 volunteers have worked closely with 87 students covering a range of topics inluding budgeting and finances, identifying skills necessary to achieve success and C.V. and interview preparation. Last week, students from the three schools visited Barclays’ Dublin offices, Hatch Street, Dublin 2 and practised their interview techniques, supported and guided by the volunteers as part of the Barclays Employability Programme.
Our thanks to Barclays and the commitment of its volunteers in supporting this programme.
