Mastering JA programmes with Mastercard!

mastercardMastercard made their annual visit to Sacred Heart Junior National School in Killinarden last week.

For the past 8 years, Mastercard volunteers have taken time out of their busy schedules to work with the senior infant, first and second class students.  The long standing relationship that Mastercard and JAI have with the school is clearly evident when you see the welcome that the volunteers receive from staff and students alike.

This year twenty volunteers  thoroughly enjoyed working with the three different age groups on the Ourselves, Our Families, and Our Community programmes . These JA programmes introduce students to basic economic concepts and help to develop positive associations with the world of

Sean White, who was participating for the fifth time, said “I really look forward to this event each year and I am happy to sign up when it comes round. It does not matter how often I have done the programme I still get something out of it. The students are always engaged and interested in the smashing materials and the really great programme content.”
Catherine Duffy, who volunteered for this event and is also currently facilitating a five-week JA programme in another school, said “I love coming in to the class and seeing the wonder on the students’ faces! They are inspired and motivated by the range of great content and activities that Junior Achievement have put together for them, I am happy to participate every year.”
Over the course of the day the twenty business volunteers worked with over 187 students from 10 different classes! Everyone involved is looking forward to next year already!
