6th Class students from Gaelscoil Charrig Uí Leighin recently brought their business ideas and innovations to the “Dragon’s” at Kerry Ingredients and Flavours EMEA (Kerry), Kilnagleary, Carrigaline. “Junior Dragon’s Den” is a Junior Achievement (JA) event, delivered with Corporate Partner, Kerry Ingredients and Flavours EMEA. Kerry invited the students into the Carrigaline facility where the students pitched their business ideas to a panel eager to find the next big business success and the entrepreneurs of the future.
In advance of the event the students were assisted by JA staff to help them brainstorm business ideas and compile business plans before making a presentation to their peers, teachers and the “Dragons” on 31st of May in Kerry.
The “Dragons Den” event is part of an overall world of work experience for the 6th class students. At Kerry the students were welcomed into the “world of work” environment. A series of introductions to onsite careers and a stint in the Kerry Laboratories for hands-on science experiments creates a valuable experience for all of the participating students.
Janet Barry, Kerry Ingredients and Flavours, said recently, “Here at Kerry we really look forward to what is now an annual “Dragon’s Den” event with Gaelscoil Charraig Uí Leighin. Our staff are now expert “Dragons” who year on year are challenged by and inspired by the 6th Year students. Located here on the edge of Carrigaline, Kerry and our staff are delighted to have this opportunity to work with the local community and contribute to the educational journey of young people in the area.”
