MetLife has partnered locally with Junior Achievement Ireland (JAI) to provide hands-on learning experiences to students in Primary and second level schools in Galway. MetLife has recently opened a new Global Technology Campus in Galway which will have more than 200 employees, many of whom will have the opportunity to volunteer in their local community.
Over 175 second level schools students from Galway will take part in a five-week financial literacy programme called ‘Finance your Future’, sponsored bythe MetLife Foundation. The programme is designed to enable students to understand how to manage their own personal finances and to link education and career choices with the world of work.
Olive Cullinane, Senior HR Business Partner in Metlife, commented: “MetLife is delighted to be partnering with Junior Achievement Ireland in the West Region. For us it is great to be involved in an initiative involving the up and coming generation who will undoubtedly be part of our future success in Galway.”
Additional MetLife business volunteers will also teach JA programmes which promote work readiness, entrepreneurship and the value of studying STEM in schools throughout Galway.
Each volunteer will teach the programme over a period of five weeks and will also provide an insight into the type of roles that will be available to the students in MetLife when they complete their education. The volunteers will provide support to the students throughout the programme and encourage them to aim for their dreams!
